3 Memories for 3 Years of Marriage

On this day three years ago, I married my best friend and soul mate. Our wedding day was the best day of my life (and Vinn’s, as he mentioned here) and it was such a magical and perfect day.

Our lives have certainly changed over the past three years with a new dog, an international move and new jobs for both of us. But, I wouldn’t change anything for the world. I can honestly say that I am happier and love Vinn more today than on October 26, 2013. And I know the best is yet to come!

Our amazing wedding photos are from M Three Studio. Anyone in the Milwaukee/Chicago area should absolutely check her out. These photos are still my most prized possessions.

In honor of our three year wedding anniversary, I thought I’d share three of my favorite memories since we’ve been married.

One: Getting Copley

Bringing Copley home is one of my favorite memories. The decision changed our lives for the better. It brought us closer together and forced us to work as team when it comes to “raising” another living thing. I remember one of the first nights we had her, Vinn was working really late, like he didn’t get home until 3 AM and Copley would not go to sleep. She was whining on the hour every hour. And I was exhausted, frustrated and annoyed. It was awful. But when Vinn got home, she stopped whining and we both got to get a few hours of sleep. It was certainly a glimpse into human parenthood.

Two: Training for our Marathon

rock n roll marathon

Training for a marathon together is a great memory. And I say memory because I never want to do it again. We trained for 5 months, getting up every Saturday morning and running for hours on end side by side. You don’t really know a person until you’ve run 26.2 miles with them, let me tell you. We fought, I cried, we pushed each other and, in the end, we had a great time. When you’re running for over 4 hours, you have a lot of time to talk. We would talk about our future, our weekend plans, dreams and a lot about what food we were going to eat after we finished running. I am still so proud of us for doing this together. P.S. all that talk about food did not help because I gained about 6 or 7 pounds through marathon training. Running 7 miles does mean you can eat an entire pizza yourself. Note to self.

Three: Traveling

And last but not least, all of our travels. We have been to 7 countries since we’ve been married. And by the end of this year, the total goes to 10. And that’s just countries. That doesn’t include all of the cities we’ve visited in the States since we’ve been married. Traveling is my favorite thing to do with Vinn. I would much rather spend money to visit a new place than get another purse. Although, sometimes I do really want that purse! And our next trip is coming up this weekend and I could not be more excited! The above picture is when we went to Murano while we were in Venice.

To Vinn: The past three years have been the best years of my life. I can’t believe how much we’ve grown together and how much we’ve experienced. My life is better because I get to spend it with it you. Here’s to the next 1,000 years together. The best is yet to come!
