Book Review: Why Not Me?

I’m not a huge reader. I’ll read on the beach or on the plane but usually not at home. So, when Hubby and I were on our way to Mexico for my friend’s wedding, I perused Amazon to find a new book to add to my Kindle.

I found the most perfect beach read: Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling!

I ended up reading 60% of it on the plane ride down to Mexico and the remaining on the beach. I’ve never written a book review, and I loved this book so much that I thought this would be the perfect first book review.

The overview:

Mindy writes her book just like she speaks. Just like her character on The Mindy Project. So if you like that show, you will love this book. Mindy writes about how she feels about her body and how she doesn’t see herself as curvy and hates that her pictures show up next to much “larger” women in magazines.

The book is all about Mindy finding her place in her career, in her life and in her relationships.

This book is hilarious! I laughed out loud during parts of this book, especially parts where she describes her relationship with B.J. Novak. I love her writing style and her comparisons of the silly things to incredibly serious things.

She offers pretty sound career advice. She talks about how she got into comedy writing and even has her mentor pen a piece of advice. No one can say that Mindy doesn’t work hard. We should all take heed what she has to say.

It’s a fast read. This isn’t War and Peace. You can definitely read this book in one day if you have a long travel day. I love books like that. Books when I can open it (or select it on my Kindle), start reading and not feel like it’s dragging. I hate when books drag.

Absolutely none. This is a great read, as long as you like Mindy. If you’re in the mood for a hilarious read, go to Amazon right now and buy this book!

Have you read either of Mindy’s books? What are you currently reading?
