I have not always been a huge reader. I actually hated reading in high school and college because I didn’t love the book 99% of the time. I did enjoy reading To Kill a Mockingbird and Streetcar Named Desire, but now that I can select the book I read and do it purely out of my own enjoyment, I am digging it lately!
I just finished Dark Places by Gillian Flynn.
I loved Gone Girl and was excited to read another book by her. Hubby actually got me this book and one other one from Hubby for Christmas. We both got each other books, which is funny, because we have both mentioned that we want to read more. #greatminds
I don’t want to write a review for this book because I honestly found this book to be quite disturbing. There were times when I wanted to put the book down, to quit the book. But, I can’t quit anything in life and pressed forward.
As the title suggests, this book is quite dark. The premise is Libby Day is the lone survivor of her family’s murder in Kansas. A murder committed by her brother more than 28 years ago. She revisits the murder, the trial and the possibility that her brother may not have killed the rest of her family.
Right? Crazy shit.
I finished the book today and I feel like I need to take a shower. It just really gave me the creeps and I need a new book that is the exact opposite of this book.
So, I’m going to read Leah Remini’s book!
I’m sure this book will be disturbing, too, because, you know, Scientology, but I am intrigued. I’ve always liked her, ever since she appeared on Saved the Bell in the summer episodes. One of my teachers in high school actually said I looked like her.
If I like this one, I’ll definitely do a review.
What are you reading lately?
