Wow, Christmas is THIS SUNDAY. I know, I know. Literally every person you talk to says the same thing, but it is so true. December (and 2016) has absolutely flown. Sorry for the radio silence this week but after spending a few days in Amsterdam (posts to come!) and getting back into our routine, I just didn’t feel up to writing. I have so many ideas for 2017 for this blog and life in general that I can’t wait to share.
But I thought I’d pop in to share a Friday Favs to get back on track.
This year, Vinn and I are staying in Germany, i.e. staying on our couch. I’m definitely sad not to be spending the time with family, but we’ve been traveling so much recently that I’m excited to spend some quality time with Vinn and Copley. We are going to spend our Christmas Eve in our pajamas watching movies and drinking wine. And then Christmas Day we are going to do the same thing and enjoy a delicious dinner.
I want to make my homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs. I haven’t made meatballs in Germany yet, so we’ll see how they turn out. It’s actually the same thing my mom is making on Christmas Day, too. And we didn’t even talk about it! Isn’t that funny? It’s a nice feeling to know we’ll be eating the same thing on Christmas Day.
As mentioned above, we are going to watch Christmas movies on Christmas Eve. Thankfully, there are so many great movies that we’ve been able to watch one every day this week, too. We’ve watched Four Christmases, Jingle All the Way, Love Actually and Home Alone. I can’t pick a favorite from this list! And we still have Elf, Christmas Vacation, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Family Stone. It’s so nice to snuggle on the couch at the end of the day and watch a movie that makes us so happy. The best part is that Copley lays right between us on the chaise. It is absolute perfection.
A Clean Apartment
I honestly have not cleaned our apartment since my parents came. That’s been about three weeks. Yikes! To say that our apartment needed a deep clean would be a severe understatement. On Wednesday, I spent three hours really giving it a good scrub. From the bathrooms to the floors, this place is spick and span. It feels so great to be able to sit on the couch and not feel the need to grab the Swiffer. And now I can really enjoy our holiday weekend.
This week has been really quite busy and I can’t wait for a relaxing time at home, celebrating Christmas with my little family. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend! Next week I’ll share our first German Christmas and our trip to Amsterdam!!
