Friday Favs {January 6}

Happy first Friday of 2017! It’s a new year and I’m feeling refreshed, committed and ready to tackle the year. This first week back to the real world is always rough, but luckily today is a holiday and Vinn is off of work, so it’s a short week.

January 6 in our state of Germany is Epiphany or Three Kings’ Day. Christian Germans celebrate how God put himself in his human son, Jesus. Most people eat cake, go to church and spend time with family. January 6 is also the day when all the Christmas decorations come down. Tear, tear.

And since this January 6 falls on a Friday, it’s time to share my first Friday Favs of 2017.

Soy milk cappuccinos

I realize this picture is not the best, but I have to share how much I am loving putting soy milk in my Nespresso milk frother. I had been using almond milk and the foam just wouldn’t happen. It would warm up the milk, but a true foam couldn’t be made. There isn’t enough fat in almond milk to foam as well. I don’t like cow milk, so soy milk was my next try. And it is amazing!! There’s a hint of vanilla and the froth is thick. I’ve made one ever day this week.

Even though I had to go back to work, I still spent time relaxing on the couch. It was a nice to ease back into the week and with a face like this on the couch, how could you leave? We caught up on the Housewives, but I was still somewhat productive because I was reviewing my German vocabulary flashcards at the same time. Who says you can’t multi-task?

On top of relaxing, I did exercise every day this week. #balance I absolutely love the Tone It Up workouts because they are difficult, yet efficient. Every Sunday they put out a schedule and I just add it to my Google Calendar to help keep me accountable. The daily workouts consist of 5 daily moves combined with either cardio, HIIT or more weight training. I love that I can do the daily moves from home if I need to but really like going to the gym to do cardio and then weight training. The best part is that a lot of the workouts are free!! Vinn even did the daily moves with me yesterday and we are both sore today. Hello, 42 burpees?! Ouch…in the best way possible. 

Travel planning

The past week I have spent a lot of time researching travel destinations for 2017. There are so many places I want to see and only so much time…and money! I love the process of planning a trip and finding fun things to do while we visit. Current contenders are the Champagne district, Tuscany, Spain, Sweden and Poland. We have booked a trip to Dublin and Vienna already and I can’t wait. I’d love to hear some recommendations on european travel destinations if you have any!
