Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday. I just didn’t have any writing juice or motivation. I spent yesterday taking Copley on a few walks, sleeping and studying German. I guess you could call that my typical day this past week.
This past week was my first full week not working. I consider it to still be a successful week. And here’s why in this week’s edition of Friday Favs.
We found an apartment
The best thing to happen this week is we signed our contract for an apartment! It’s in a great location, bigger than expected and our exact budget. And it has been completed updated. The above photo is one side of the new kitchen. The hole is where the dishwasher is going. And that is the stove right next to the sink.
There are definitely some nuances that are interesting to us, like there is not one closet in the entire apartment! Our container gets released on Monday and we can start moving in and getting settled. I am so excited! It’s finally going to feel like home. I will definitely be busy with making our house a home and making sure we have enough storage. Prepare yourselves for more decorating posts and a video apartment tour.
The weather is getting much nicer
Look how blue that sky is! The great thing about the nicer weather is that Copley and I have taken really long walks. In the morning we’ve been walking about an hour and then another 30 minute walk in the afternoon. It’s been really great to explore the area and get fresh air every day.
Alec Baldwin’s podcast
I have become obsessed with podcasts. They are especially great for the long walks with the Bean. I found a new one and it is amazing! Alec Baldwin’s podcast, Here’s the Thing, is incredible. One, his laugh is one of the best sounds in the world. Two, he interviews amazing celebrities like Amy Schemer, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jimmy Fallon. Three, he has an episode about Making a Murderer. Alec’s character on 30 Rock was my absolute favorite and I wish Alec were him in real life. But I will settle for this version of him.
Wednesday we went out to dinner with a bunch of other Americans who are working in Germany. It was so nice to meet other people and share our experiences and annoyances of relocating to Germany.
This weekend we are going to our apartment to measure and go furniture shopping, exploring the city and maybe meeting with a future pet sitter. Wow, that’s a lot!
What are your favs from this week? What two things are you looking forward to this weekend?
