Friday Favs {May 13}

Well, it’s Friday the 13th. It’s typically a superstitious day and I totally get that. Actually, I’m feeling quite under the weather today…maybe it’s because of Friday the 13th. Who knows?!

I’m currently snuggled on the couch with Copley, watching Orange is the New Black and drinking as much water as humanly possible. I think I’ve been eating way too much cheese and my body is rebelling. Bland diet for the near future for me!

Since it’s Friday, here are my Friday Favs for this week.

The Hypnotist’s Love Story

I just finished reading this book by Liane Moriarty. I loved her other books Big Little Lies and The Husband’s Secret, so when I found this book on Amazon, I immediately bought it. It is a really good, fast read. It only took me a week to finish and there were some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I did figure out some of the plot, though, but it was so obvious.

The book goes through the lives of three people: Eileen, the hypnotist, meets a man online and starts to date him. They go on several dates and Patrick, her new flame, get into a flight because Patrick’s stalker shows herself!! The story is told from Eileen and the stalker’s perspectives and it is interesting to see both sides of the story. If you’re going on the beach soon, bring this book. It won’t disappoint.

Our new pillows

Hi cute girl! She is loving our new pillows, too. I ordered 16×16 inserts from Amazon and the covers from the Etsy shop, Say it with Pillows. The covers are really high quality and fit the inserts perfectly. And the covers have a flap in the back for easy assembly and there aren’t zippers, which I really like.

The only negative was the shipping process from the States to here. I was able to pay in Euros online, but I wasn’t able to pay German sales tax. There’s a post office of sorts that keeps packages where the tax or VAT isn’t paid. You get something in the mail and you have to bring proof of purchase with sale price to the office. The process was not very streamlined. I walked into the office, gave the guy my papers, walked down the hallway to get my package, walked back to the office, waited until he called my name and then paid my 28 Euro tax. You’d think the office and the location of the packages would be in the same place so you could do everything in one fell swoop. Oh well, they are here now and I love them!

House, M.D.

I know this show has been on for years but I’ve never watched it. House is on German Netflix, so we started watching it over the weekend. And, of course, now I’m addicted. Vinn always said I would enjoy the show and tried to get me to watch for years! I finally listened to him and he was so right. If only Netflix would get Law and Order: SVU. Maybe one day.

Dinner Party Prep

We are having some friends over this weekend for dinner and I am loving the research for what to make. My friend is a fantastic cook and I want to reciprocate for her. I’ve been on Pioneer Woman‘s website and Barefoot Contessa and have a few ideas. I’ll share the outcome next week!

Monday is a national German holiday and I’m so excited to have Vin here on Monday for a 3 day weekend. Hope you have a fantastic weekend.
