Getting in the Holiday Spirit

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us, finally! Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. I love everything about it: the tree, the ornaments, the lights, snowmen, reindeer, carols, movies, absolutely everything. And, luckily, Germans love Christmas, too. Tomorrow officially starts the Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market) in our area and I can’t wait!

If I’m being honest, I started decorating two weeks ago. Over the weekend I bought some more ornaments to fill out our tree and it just put me in the mood.

I only brought the ornaments that mean something to us when we moved here. It has also become tradition to buy an ornament on our trips. I didn’t have enough ornaments to make the tree look complete. It actually looked kind of sad. I went to our local hardware store and bought some gold “filler” ornaments to match our gold star. I’ve only put together a tree once and I’m still getting the hang of it. It doesn’t look like a tree in a Potterybarn catalog, but I like it.

You can’t see in the picture but I bought these really sparkly star ornaments that are so festive. They add just a little something extra to the tree. I think I’ll take a nicer picture for Friday Favs this week.

I listened to the new Pentatonix album, which is amazing by the way, while making dinner and have had the holiday playlist from Apple Music on in the background while doing everything. Christmas music is my absolute favorite. It instantly puts me in the holiday spirit and makes me want to snuggle on the couch and watch Love Actually.

How do you get in the holiday spirit?
