Highs & Lows from the Weekend

Moving to a different country is a very exciting opportunity and one that I am really happy Vinn and I decided to embark together. But, moving to a different country/continent definitely has it’s pluses and minuses. There are highs and lows.

I’ve been here officially for one week and the culture shock is real, people! Every single day I have experienced a lot of highs and a lot of lows. This weekend was mostly high, but there were definitely some lows, too. Here’s what happened this weekend:

High – I ordered 2 cappuccinos ands croissants at a cafe to go.

All in German!! Woohoo! It was so European. I took Copley for a walk, went to a cafe in the mall and ordered 2 cappuccinos to go. It was fabulous and a great way to start Saturday.

Low – I spent pretty much all of Saturday and Sunday sick in bed.

Obviously, this is an extreme low, but I definitely spent the majority of the weekend in bed with the sniffles, a cough and sinus pressure. I’m still not feeling my best. I would describe myself as achy, tired and having energy only to sleep. Thank goodness for internet and Bravo…and Zyrtec.

High and Low – Moving to a new hotel

We moved to a new hotel because it is closer to the office and in the general vicinity of where we think we want to live.

There are a bunch of highs that came with moving: the wifi is better, our commute is going to be cut down drastically, there’s a physical A/C unit, and we are getting a feeling of what it would be like to live in this area.

But, there are definitely lows, too: the room is smaller, more outdated and there’s not much happening in this little town. There are restaurants, of course, but there definitely isn’t as much within walking distance as compared to the other hotel. I’m sure not feeling my best has something to do with it, but the size is going to be a challenge.

We are currently in Asperg, Germany. Here are some pictures:

High – Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day 2016 was low-key and perfect. We stayed in the hotel room most of the day. I slept, Vinn read/watched sports on the computer, we had breakfast at the hotel, too many chocolates and Italian food in bed!

We haven’t paid for the included breakfast yet because it is quite expensive, but considering yesterday was Valentine’s Day, we decided to spring for the breakfast! It was delicious! Champagne included. The coffee was absolutely delicious and the spread was vast. We ate bacon, eggs, waffles, yogurt, fruit and I had a mimosa, which was probably not the best thing to drink since I’m not feeling well…but #yolo.

We also found an Italian restaurant that had carry out and it was the best!! We had our meals in bed, while watching Baby Mama. A perfect relaxing Sunday night.

How was your weekend?
