Confession: I am obsessed with blogs. I love reading them daily, I love finding new ones, I love interacting with other bloggers and, of course, I love writing my own blog.
I found blogs, gosh, 6 years ago. I was packing for a trip to Europe with my family and a co-worker sent me a link to Peanut Butter Finger because she wrote a post about packing for Europe in a carry-on. I started reading all of Julie’s posts, like from the beginning. I loved her healthy lifestyle and felt we had a lot in common, even though we’ve never met in person. I became intrigued.
I started to search for other blogs that shared my interests. Honestly, I didn’t really understand what a blog was, but once I found some favorites I haven’t looked back.
In the beginning, I would check each web site every day. I would check when I was bored at work and when I would think about it at night. And then I got really bored at a sales job so I would check different ones like every hour. I was just trying to fill time and started to look for a way that I could read all my favorite blogs from the same place. Enter Bloglovin’.
Bloglovin’ started in 2007 with the intent for readers to read all their favorite blogs in one place (genius) but would also send traffic back to the blog writers, creators and editors. You sign up for a (free!) account, search for your favorite blogs, click follow and you’ll start to receive the most recent posts on your Bloglovin’ homepage.
I follow about 20 blogs. They range from healthy living and lifestyle to mom blogs to my wedding photographer’s blog. I just love that I can be automatically updated with the latest posts and I don’t have to spend all my time going to different sites trying to find something to read. My homepage looks like this:
I also love that the site recommends new sites based on what I follow. I’ve found several of my favorite blogs this way. You can love and save posts through the site, also, like it’s own version of Pinterest.
I also have the Bloglovin’ app on my phone and frequently check for new posts while standing in line at the grocery store, in the waiting room at the doctor or while Vinn is using the laptop. It’s so convenient to have right at my finger tips.
All in all, Bloglovin’ is one of my most visited web sites and I can’t imagine going back to checking each web site a day.
