Yesterday I shared my favorite memories from the past three years of marriage. And one of them surrounding marathon training.
It’s been over a year since we ran our marathon and I thought I’d put together a post that highlights my favorite marathon training posts. I wrote these as we went and before the blog became about life in Germany and thought it’d be fun to look back on all my old marathon posts.
We Did It! This post shares everything about the marathon day. How it was supposed to rain, how it ended up not raining and being incredibly humid and how I thought I might die from mile 15 – 23.
Marathon training and weight loss, or lack there of. I thought for sure I would lose weight, or at least fat, while training for a marathon. Well, I did the opposite. I gained about 6 or 7 pounds from our training and probably because I would “reward” myself with running so far by eating an entire pizza myself. See above.
Running in the freezing cold. We trained in the dead of winter. If that’s not dedication, I don’t know what is. It would be 20 degrees and we would have to run 20 miles. Not an ideal situation, but it certainly makes for some pretty epic stories!
Reflections on marathon training. Like I said yesterday, I really think that training together was great for our marriage. We learned so much about each other, like how I don’t want to be talked to when I’m super pissed and want to die, or that listening to music is much better for Vinn’s motivation.
