Today is October 3rd, the greatest day of the year. And only because of this:
This is the best line from the entire movie. I am slightly obsessed with this. For my friends and me, it’s always a race for who can text this first on October 3rd. I’m lucky now because I have a 6 hour advantage!
Anyway, because it’s the beginning of the month, I thought I’d share my goals for October. I haven’t shared any goals for quite a while and I want to get back on track of doing this on a monthly basis.
Here are the goals I shared in June and here’s where they stand as of today:
Read More – Check. Since June I have read 3 books, including The Girls and Amy Schumer’s The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, and you can read my review on Amy’s book here. That’s only about one book a month, which isn’t great and I can do better.
Write More – Check. I am very happy with how much writing I’ve been doing lately. I’m not writing anything Earth shattering or anything, but I am sharing my thoughts and feelings during this phase of life and I hope it reaches people in some way shape or form. I want to write honestly about things going on in my life, whether it’s serious, like loneliness or something fun, like our adventures traveling through Europe. It’s great for my mind and soul.
Understand our Cash Flow – Semi-check. I feel better about understanding our finances than I did in June. I even spent a whole week tracking my spending. There’s always room for improvement, but I feel great about where we stand. And, most importantly, Vinn and I are on the same page. I think that’s very important for a happy, healthy marriage. Just my two cents.
Start Tennis Lessons – Check. I’m happy to say that I have taken tennis lessons since June. I took the month of August off since we were traveling and our club got a new trainer, but I’m back in business. I am enjoying playing and to get better.
Plan Our Next Vacation – Check. We have several trips coming up and I am so excited! Stay tuned.
These goals were pretty generic. For October, I’m going to be more specific because I think they are easier to reach that way. I love October because it is our wedding anniversary and it is the most perfect fall weather. I think this October is going to be the best yet.
Here we go, my goals for October 2016.
Read Two Books. Just saying ‘Read More’ doesn’t really help me. By making this more specific, I think I’m more likely to actually do it. I already have the two books in mind, so here’s hoping!
Work Out 5 – 6 Days a Week. I’ve been doing really well with my work outs lately, but this month I really want to take it up a notch. I want to do a lot of HIIT on the treadmill and more weight training.
Purge my Closet. I really need to go through my closet and get rid of the things I don’t wear. I seriously think I have a pair of jeans from high school that I haven’t worn since then. Why do I have them still? Goodness. Towards the end of the month, after my hardcore work outs, I want to try on everything and finally get rid of the things that don’t fit or don’t look good on me. It’s time.
Try at least 1 New Recipe. I love cooking and have been fairly creative lately. To keep that train rolling, I want to try at least one new recipe. Maybe something from Julia Child? We’ll see.
October is definitely going to be busy!
What are your October goals?

I haven’t shared goals or bucket lists for a really long time…
It’s Monday, the start of a new week and, for me, the start…
