Happy Friday! How’s everyone doing today? This week was a little rough because Vinn was out of town for for, so I was home alone for a few days. But, Copley and I managed to have a fun girls week. This weekend is going to be super low-key and I am really looking forward to it. After this weekend, the year is going to fly with all of our travel. 2017 is going to be a great year.
Without further ado, let’s jump to this week’s Friday Favs.
Vinn’s 29th Birthday
Of course, the number one favorite of this week is Vinn’s 29th birthday! It’s hard to believe we met as 18 year old, college freshman. We aren’t doing anything super special to celebrate, but will celebrate while we are in Dublin for sure. Vinn and I have spent 11 birthdays together and I can’t imagine life without you, babe.
Finishing Andy Cohen’s book
My love of Bravo wouldn’t exist without Andy Cohen. I love him and love all the shade he throws during the reunions. I read his first book and just finished his second book. It’s a diary that follows about a year in his life. And, boy, does he have some life. From interviewing the cast of Friends to having a casual dinner with Kelly Ripa and Anderson Cooper, he is constantly busy and working. I wish he shared a little more dirt on the behind the scenes of the housewives, but it’s a good, quick read. I enjoyed reading about him updating his apartment, how he is adjusting to having a rescue dog and his tour with Anderson. If you’re a Bravo fan, I’d definitely recommend.
Whenever Vinn is gone, I tend to make some “healthier” dishes and ones that he doesn’t necessarily like. Last night, I made zucchini noodles with meat sauce. It’s super easy and quick to make and the meat sauce keeps me full. If I said I don’t miss the pasta, I’d be lying, but the zoodles are a nice substitute. It is the perfect meal to make when I’m alone. Plus, I can easily make noodles for Vinn the next night.
What are your Friday Favs this week?
It is officially November. How in the world did that happen? Obviously, the best thing from this week was London. We had so much fun that I have been quite tired the rest of the week, hence the no London posts yet. But, they are coming next week. I have to still go through our 300 (!) pictures.
This weekend is going to be low-key and a possible trip to Frankfurt to see family. I hope you all had a great week and will have a fantastic weekend. And in typical Friday flare, here are my Friday Favs for this week.
Two weeks ago I finally downloaded the GIF keyboard to my iPhone. And it has been life changing. Shout out to Megan for walking me through how to download everything.
I’ve sent way too many GIFs of 30 Rock, Friends and Sex and the City. And numerous Real Housewives ones to my mom and sister. It has been really fun to find the perfect one for the situation! Also, is it pronounced GIF like the peanut butter or GIF with a hard G? Ah, first world problems.
Real Housewives of Orange County
This last week was the finale of Real Housewives of Orange County. While it wasn’t the most entertaining finale ever, the behind the scenes drama has been quite intense. I won’t get into the details because they are admittedly pretty confusing, but the basis of it is that normal people took screen shots of text messages Kelly Dodd and her husband had a few years ago where Kelly basically screams at Michael for having an affair. And then these people called into Watch What Happens Live to confront Kelly. Twitter has been intense, too. I think Kelly is unstable, but makes for great tv!
Coming Home to Copley
As much as I love traveling, there is absolutely nothing like snuggling with Copley on the couch. On Wednesday, we spent most of our day watching Gilmore Girls and eating bad food. It was truly perfect. Copley is just the best and I miss her when we’re gone! She has not left my side the past three days. She is my little shadow.
What are your Friday Fav?
I haven’t done a housewives show recap for far too long. And I am just loving this season of Orange County, so I figured it was time to get back into the recaps, 7 episodes too late.
Let’s jump right in, shall we.
To quickly sum up the episode in one word: insanity. Names were thrown, lawyers are being called, weird Eastern medicine pressure points are happening, and to steal a line from Yolanda:
Some fun parts:
Vicki getting stuck in the elevator.
And now, the insane parts: The Dinner
The most amazing things happen during a housewives dinner. Truly amazing. I live for this.
Everyone arrives at the sushi restaurant to celebrate Meghan going through IVF the next day. I laughed when all the women took off their shoes that cost more than my books during all of college. It reminded of the SATC episode where Carrie has to take her shoes off at someone’s house for a kid’s birthday party and someone steals them. And when she calls the host for reimbursement for the $600 Manolos, the host tells her that’s a crazy amount to spend on shoes! Ah, SATC. You’ve been off the air too long.
Everything’s going fine and then Meghan stirs the pot by bringing up Kelly’s lunch with Shannon. At the dinner table. It’s not like the table is that big. Everyone can hear their conversation.
Kelly’s responses are insane. Like Kelly Bensimon Scary Island insane. (OK, satchels of gold). Kelly, WTF. I’m a mother, I’ve worked my whole life, I’m college educated. I’ve been a multi-millionaire for yeeeearrrsssss. Who says that? Who? Who? Who? Who?
And there there’s: The bleep. I assume that was the c u next Tuesday word. The most disgusting word in the entire English language. The room is stunned. There’s no defending that word. And, Meghan standing up for Shannon, you go girl!
Kelly is drunk, drunkity, drunk, drunk. And, someone went to the tanning bed a little too long today. She brings up how certain comments about her being a prostitute are defamation of character and she’s going to sue. Here’s a hint for you college educated, Kelly, you have to prove defamation in the community that somehow hurt your life, your ability to work, etc. You can’t just sue for defamation of character because you don’t like what someone says. I think that’s an amendment somewhere? Hmm….guess they don’t teach in private Catholic schools.
Heather’s testimonial after the dinner. Dang, that girl was mad. Her eyes were daggers. Heather again with telling someone to leave. Do I think, Heather was right? Yes. Do I think her words sometimes are a little too harsh and motherly to her non-children? Yes. But that doesn’t mean she’s wrong. I stand by Heather for leaving. She is classy. And my spirit animal.
Heather’s tears. They seemed a little forced. But, when I cry and try to talk, I sound like a yipping puppy. I can totally understand
wanting needing to cry after a situation like that. I can’t wait to listen to her podcast and hear what she has to say about it!
The previews. I can’t lie. I shed a tear at this preview. David going out of his way to show Shannon how much he loves her is so nice. I hope the night goes off without a hitch. But, this is housewives, we know there will be some drama. We already know this because the season preview shows Shannon screaming wearing that pink dress.
What’d you think of the episode?
First and foremost, I am so sad to have learned this morning about the horrific attack in Nice. Yet another terrorist attack in a beautiful city during a time of celebration. What is this world coming to? It just breaks my heart that we live in a time of cops killing innocent people, people killing innocent officers and extremists killing anyone and everyone who believe something different to them. My heart goes out to all those affected and I pray that our world will come to a place of acceptance, peace and understanding.
And it does seem trivial to even post a Friday Favs post today, but I started this blog as a way to focus on the great things in life and not the negativity. It is easy to wallow in the tragic events, especially now, but we must not let evil win. So, here are my favs from this week.
The Return of Jeff Lewis
Oh Jeff Lewis. I have loved you since you yelled at your assistant for bringing you Pollo Loco with onions. “No onions, No Onions! You have to check the box!” If I could just have that sound byte on repeat, that would just make my day.
Jeff, Jenni, Zoila and the gang are back for season 9 (!?!) of Flipping Out. I’ve been watching season 8 thanks to the Bravo Now app and I just love this show. It combines drama, comedy and home decor in the best way possible. Vinn even
likes tolerates this show. It’s probably the only Bravo show that he doesn’t need to leave the room if I watch.
Yet another podcast to add to my list of favorites! This one is from Cheryl Strayed, the author of Wild, a book I highly recommend if you haven’t read it yet. Cheryl’s Dear Sugar column turned podcast is focus on providing advice to listeners and readers no matter the topic. Cheryl and her co-host have a no-nonsense approach and provide uplifting tips and tricks to get through this thing called life. I particularly like the episode about family secrets. Fascinating.
Jennifer Aniston’s Huffington Post essay
Jennifer Aniston. What words would I use to describe you? Talented. Compassionate. Sheer Perfection. And my love only continues to grow, especially after reading her essay on Huffington Post this week, “For the Record.” She addresses the objectification of women in the public eye and how terrifying it is to be followed by paparazzi all day.
I can only imagine what she goes through on a daily basis. And the scrutiny she is under for having failed at relationships, not having children yet and just her life choices. Even though I admittedly love stalking celebs, I do feel for her. Her essay is well written, too. Give it a read!
BlueHost Customer Support
This is just a quick shout out to BlueHost and their customer service. This week I decided to jump into this blog with both feet and take it to the next level by switching my blog from a WordPress.com to a WordPress.org site and chose to host my site with BlueHost. I am in no way shape or form a tech-y and found a lot of the transition difficult. But, BlueHost was amazing. They answered every question I had and helped walk me through everything. I’m really excited to show you what I’ve been working on and will hopefully have a “relaunch’ of Room for Gelato next week!
Here’s to a great weekend spent hugging loved ones, playing tennis and a day trip to a castle! Have a great one.
Season 6 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has officially started. And we’re already on episode 6! I haven’t written too much about this season, so I figured we’re deep enough into it where I have some opinions (something that’s never lacking with me) and want to share.
Let’s start with the newbie, Erica
Jane Girard. This woman is fabulous. I love that she refers to herself in third person and has this sexy side that is amazing to watch. It’s not my cup of tea and I doubt I would pay for a concert ticket, but I appreciate her sexiness and talent. I love that she freely admits that her husband is older but it is obvious that she loves him.
The last episode Erica really grew on me. When she was talking about her private plane and how it’s awesome not to go through security, but you still have to buy the plane (!!!) she took top 3 RHOBH slots. She’s still behind the Lisa’s. And when Erica calls LVP and says, “OK, Diva.” Died. Like Rachel Zoe died.
Yolanda gets her breast implants removed because they ruptured and silicone is floating around her body. I did not need to see the surgery or her bloody implant. Too much for me. And, why is her “health advocate” in the operating room but not her husband? Was Yolanda throwing some shade at David?
Lisa Rinna on QVC is amazing. Eileen and Vinny arguing over a $500 dress is funny and shows that they are a real couple. Kyle needs a stylist ASAP. What ever the f*ck she was wearing when they arrived in the Hamptons should be burned.
I don’t care about Kim. Like seriously, leave her out of the season. She is cray.
I’m really looking forward to next week when Bethenny comes one and proves that she knows it all.
Have you been watching this season? Who’s your favorite?
