Weekend Wrap-Up {February 22}

Holy Monday! I felt like Garfield all day.

I had quite a weekend. I had fun with some girlfriends, watched Birdman and the Oscars. I’m going to switch it up and go through the the events instead of days. And this post is going to be more of a movie review since I watched 2 movies this weekend.

Drum Roll, Please…

Fifty Shades of Grey

A group of girlfriends and I went out to dinner and to see Fifty Shades of Grey and it was pretty good. I would give it a C. I did read the books, so I had some frame of reference. I thought Dakota Johnson did a great job and whoever the dude is did okay. He was awkward, but I think that Christian is meant to be awkward at first. The best part was we went to a theater that serves alcohol. I drank a cosmo while watching the movie and that certainly helped. All in all, I’m glad I saw it and am invested, so I’ll probably see the rest of them.

Saturday night, Hubby and I rented Birdman on iTunes. I had semi-high expectations for this movie since I heard it was up for all the awards. And actually, it did win the Oscar for Best Picture. But, I will say, that I don’t get it. I don’t get what this movie was about, what the point was, why it’s so cool, none of it. The one cool thing I will say is that the entire movie is shot with only one camera, which is pretty neat. It’s way better than Blair Witch Project if that’s what you’re thinking. It’s nothing like that. I actually fell asleep during the movie, woke up for the end and have no idea what happened. Hubby didn’t even and he watched the whole thing. I can’t believe it won. I won’t believe anything the “Academy” says is a good movie anymore.

The Oscars

Let me first mention that I really like Neil Patrick Harris. I thought he did an okay job hosting. It’s definitely a hard job and I wouldn’t want to do it. He gets mad props from me. I was pretty much underwhelmed though. And don’t even get me started on the fashion. I thought I was watching a Red Carpet from my high school prom. Nothing really wowed me. It was lackluster. The only saving grace of the whole night came from Lady Gaga, which is something I never thought I’d say. She did an incredible job and Sound of Music is one of my all time favorites!

How was your weekend? Did you see any nominated movies? Do you love Lady Gaga?
