Weekend Wrap-Up {February 8}

How is the weekend over? I’m sad about that. I had a truly fantastic weekend and I’m sad it’s the start of the work week…

Let me share the fun parts of the weekend!!

Friday – Dinner at Cafe Via

I mentioned in my Friday Favs post that I was going out to dinner with a girlfriend for Birmingham Restaurant Week. The food was great and the vibe of the restaurant is very eccentric. I mean, look at this ceiling!

Because it was restaurant week, there was a set 3-course menu and you had a choice for each course.

I mean, look at those choices!! How could I decide between home-made sausage and tomato bisque?! Why, ask your waitress of course.

Our waitress, Lynn, was truly fantastic and she said the home-made sausage is out of this world and one of the best thing on the menu. Ok, Lynn. Bring it on!

Check out that sausage! Side Note: apologies for my awful iPhone pics, but that’s what all I got!

It was absolutely delicious. The potatoes and the sauce were also amazing. I can’t really explain what it tasted like, but it was creamy and tart all at the same time. Course 1: pretty darn good!

For drinks, I ordered 2 glasses of prosecco over the course of the evening and my friend, Lindsay, ordered 2 glasses of Malbec. After a long week, nothing helps bring me into the weekend like some champs bubbles!

For Course 2, we both ordered the petite tenderloin because I didn’t get enough meat during Course 1.

And let me tell you, I licked my plate clean! The mashed potatoes were the creamiest I’ve ever eaten and the meat was cooked to perfection.

Not to be out done, Course 3 brought it home. A snicker doodle cookie and a decaf cappuccino. I needed a little something hot to get me through my drive home!! The ginger ice cream was sheer perfection!

It was a wonderful way to spend a Friday night!

Thanks, Lindsay. And no, we aren’t sisters, but we could be!!

There’s not much to report about Saturday. I basically woke up, went on a 3 mile treadmill run, got a haircut, ran errands and fell asleep at 9:30.

Side bar comment: Why does an entire family need to travel to Costco together? The aisles aren’t big enough for your family of 4, your cart, my cart, me and the abandoned cart in the center. I’m never going to Costco on Saturday afternoon ever again. Although, the one plus side to that is, all the samples stations are open!!

We ran 12 miles. I iced my knees, drank some tea, took the longest, hottest shower ever!!  Then for dinner I had some Costco pizza, wine, salad and a chocolate chip cookie. Is that a balanced diet? No. Did I also eat a mango? Yes. #balance #80/20

I leave you with a picture from the weekend that melts my heart!

My two favorites. I love how much Hubby loves Copley. I know he will make a fantastic human daddy some day.

How was your weekend? Anything fun to share?
